posted in News on November 29, 2013 in News on 11/29/2013

The public was invited to attend the unveiling of a new bronze sculpture, Homecoming, at 11 a.m., Friday, November 29. The sculpture depicts a Naval Aviator reunited with his family following a long deployment. These reunions are defining and poignant moments for military families.

Homecoming was sculpted by Museum director and acclaimed artist, retired Navy Captain Bob Rasmussen.  His inspiration was taken from a photograph of Rasmussen’s son, Navy Lt Commander Eric Rasmussen, and his family during a homecoming celebration in 1999. Members of the family attended the unveiling at the Museum on Nov. 29 2013
