New Game Explores Rich History, Restored Aircraft and Famous Aviators...
The first American in space, the first African-American to complete the Navy’s flight training program and the Naval Aviator to command the first flights over the North and South Poles are just three pilots highlighted in the exciting new game, “Famous Flyers,” here at the National Naval Aviation Museum. This game booklet takes visitors on a history hunt with information highlighting heroic and daring pilots featured throughout the Museum. The object of the game is to match the famous aviators with the correct exhibits. Several clues are given and players mark their answers in the game booklet at various stamp stations found next to the participating exhibits. A successfully completed game includes all 12 stamps for the corresponding clues. Visitors who present their completed game at the Flight Deck Store will receive Museum coupons and a registration card for a chance to win one of two grand prizes. Coupons include $1 off one ticket to “The Magic of Flight” IMAX® film, $5 off the Top Gun Air Combat Simulator, $10 off one annual Foundation membership, as well as a “buy one, get one free dessert” offer at the Cubi Bar Café. Grand prize choices include a weekend getaway at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front hotel, along with a $50 gift certificate to the award-winning H20 Cajun-Asian restaurant, or an “Aviator Package” for children, which includes a flight jacket from the Flight Deck Store. The Famous Flyers History Hunt game debuts Feb. 1 and will run for about 90 days. Grand prize winners will be announced in early May. The game will change themes and prizes quarterly.
