Foundation Magazine submission guidelines

In general, articles should be between five and ten typed, double-spaced pages, although in some instances shorter and longer articles are accepted.

All stories should be submitted on clean pages that are free of handwriting and other markings. This is helpful because the stories are scanned into a computer for editing, and marks on the page other than typed characters can disrupt this process. If possible, accompany your printed submission with a computer CD containing your article in a format readable by Microsoft Word on PC.

The inclusion of relevant photographs, slides and other supporting materials is greatly encouraged. Each piece should be accompanied by an accurate description, including dates, locations, names and all other relevant information. When mailing these items, remember to use a sturdy envelope to prevent damage. Please do not submit photocopies of photographs - they reproduce poorly.

All articles must be accompanied by a recent photograph, and brief up-to-date biography, of the author. Please describe yourself (hometown, military history, accomplishments) as concisely as possible in approximately one-half of a typed, double-spaced page. The recent photo of the author must provide a good view of his or her face - without sunglasses - because it will be used as a portrait.

Please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope that can be used to return any materials submitted. All photographs and other materials will be returned promptly after publication.

Authors are encouraged to refer to the Foundation Style Guide in preparing submissions. To download the guide from the internet, visit http://www.naval-air.org/joinus/publications.htm.  You will need Adobe Acrobat to open it, which can be obtained from www.Adobe.com.  The guide is not currently available in any other format.
