The National Naval Aviation Museum is proud to share a home with the United States Navy’s Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron!
During the 2012 season, the Blue Angels will perform practice air shows over NAS Pensacola most Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 8:30 a.m. In addition, following most of the Wednesday practices, there will be an autograph session with the pilots inside the Museum.
New Flight Simulators – Ready for Takeoff! We have two state-of-the-art MaxFlight Simulators; under your control, these one-of-a-kind simulators are capable of air-to-air combat and stunt flying. Combined with patented, fully interactive 360 degree pitch and roll technology, kids and adults are sure to agree that MaxFlight is one of the world’s most exciting indoor attractions! Come experience the multiple flight scenarios with dozens of different aircraft! Out of home entertainment—out of this world fun!
The Motion-Based Simulator is a five-minute, multi-sensory experience that combines a movie-like audiovisual presentation using a high-definition projection screen and surround-sound, with the motion of the ride compartment. The fully enclosed simulator capsule, which accommodates up to 15 passengers, can move in six directions, allowing you to experience horizontal rolls, longitudinal pitches and vertical climbs.
Cockpit Trainers Exhibit
Discover the interior of some of your favorite aircraft by visiting the Cockpit Trainers Exhibit on the Second Deck of the South Wing. Climb inside these cockpits, move the control stick, flip switches, and pretend that you are actually flying! The playing of radio transmissions heard by actual aviators approaching an aircraft carrier add to the experience. Other cockpit trainers are available throughout the Museum, many near their represented aircraft. Cockpits featured in Hangar Bay One include the A-6 Intruder, F-8 Crusador, F-14 Tomcat, and the unique AV-8 Harrier. There is no charge to access the Cockpit Trainers Exhibit.
