The Light Before Christmas

Light Before Christmas

Noon, December 19th – December 31st

Certain to be an endearing film for decades, The Light Before Christmas is the delightful tale of young Katie and her brother Makean, who lose their way in a Christmas Eve blizzard only to be rescued by the Candleman, an old sage who imparts wisdom, hot chocolate, a warm cottage and stories. This stunning stop-motion animated film fills the screen with detailed sets and characters inspired by the designs of renowned artist James C. Christensen.

Christmas Special: Buy a ticket to any IMAX® movie and see The Light Before Christmas for only $1.00 (same day only).

See it on the Giant Screen!

The IMAX® Naval Aviation Memorial Theatre is one of the largest IMAX® theatres in the world and has the largest screen in Florida. It took nearly two years to construct the theatre. The screen is 10 times larger than a traditional cinema screen, and fills the whole field of peripheral vision.

Made of a reflective and perforated vinyl, the screen is mounted taut over a scaffold frame containing 690 tons of structural steel and 1,990 cubic yards of concrete. The screen is 62 feet high and 82 feet wide with a frontal surface area of 5,084 square feet. The screen itself weighs over 600 pounds. The projector passes 70mm film at 24 frames per second over a 3-foot diameter rotor turning at 180 mph, projecting an image on the screen magnified 273 times the size of the film frame.
