C-131 Samaritan

The Navy's C-131, the military version of Convair's 340 model commercial airliner, served throughout the Cold War in Navy and Marine Corps fleet support squadrons as logisitic and administrative support aircraft. Samaritans were also employed as aerial ambulances capable of holding up to 27 beds, search and rescue platforms for the Coast Guard, and VIP transports. The Museum's aircraft spent its career as an air transport, its final flights occuring from Forrest Sherman Field at Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, where it served as the flag transport for the Chief of Naval Air Training.
