CDR John S. “Jack” Walker, USN
1923 - 2006
Born in Lansing, Michigan, and joined the Navy in May 1942. Designated a Naval Aviator 15 September 1943. Flew 39 anti-submarine combat missions from England flying PB4Y1 aircraft and participated in the sinking of U236. Married Joan Kathleen Atyeo in England May 1945. Served in the Navy for 28 years with 6,220 pilot hours in 22 different aircraft and flying in five operational squadrons. Awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, two Air Medals, and seven other decorations.
