1950 - 1978

Graduated from Newtown High School in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. Class president for his last two years, he was also Yearbook Sports Editor, Athletic Association President, MVP Basketball, MVP Baseball, and voted Scholar Athlete of the Year 1968. In his junior year he was elected to the National Honor Society. Jim's ambition was to be an airline pilot. When a senior he applied to the U.S. Naval Academy, hoping to enter its flight program.
