LTJG ARTHUR HENDERSON SMITH, USN
1923 - 2000

Art was a native of Anniston, Alabama where he played football for Coach "Chink" Lott and graduated from Anniston High School in May of 1941. He worked for Bell South prior to joining the Navy on October 26, 1943. Art attended Flight Preparatory School at the University of South Carolina and then moved on to War Training Service and Pre-Flight School at the University of Georgia. He then received orders for Memphis NAS where he trained and flew the Stearman Bi-plane.
