The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, Inc. is the nonprofit, 501(c)(3) educational and fundraising organization that supports the development of the National Naval Aviation Museum. Since its founding in 1966, the Foundation has raised tens of millions of dollars to fund construction of the Museum; recovery and restoration of historic aircraft; development and expansion of Museum exhibits; and a host of educational programs designed "to Inspire and Educate" by teaching the history of Naval Aviation and the principles of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) via the challenges of human flight.
The Foundation conducts revenue-producing business activities, principally the Flight Deck Store, the IMAX® Theatre, Motion Based Simulator, F-14 Top Gun Aircraft Combat Simulators and a share profit from the Cubi Bar Café. After covering its own operating expenses, profit is applied to defray Foundation overhead, and remaining proceeds are gifted to the Museum. The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation has achieved the exceptional 4-star rating for sound fiscal management from Charity Navigator, America's premier charity evaluator.

The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation has raised over 65 million dollars since 1966 to build and support the National Naval Aviation Museum. Constructed in phases, the Museum now houses over 150 aircraft, and will have room for many more once the Phase IV, Hangar Bay One addition is complete in late 2010. The Foundation also provides funding for the recovery and restoration of aircraft, such as the Museum’s SBD-2 Dauntless (BuNo 2106) which is the only known surviving aircraft to have fought in the Battle of Midway, and required over 70,000 hours of work to restore. By giving to the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, you can play an important role in supporting the Museum and its efforts to preserve the legacy and spirit of Naval Aviation.

Learning through gaming - The National Flight Academy will provide a thrilling in-residence learning adventure based on the science and wonder of flight. Our program is designed to spark enthusiasm in young people for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Students will be immersed for five-and-a-half days of role-play as aviators aboard the aircraft carrier Ambition. Using theme park inspired theatrical treatment, the facility is designed and equipped to look, feel, sound and function like a modern aircraft carrier. Learning is embedded in exciting virtual world scenarios that are planned and flown in our digtial, multi-sensory simulation and immersion centers. Through serious gaming and intensive role-play, participants will work together to plan, fly and debrief each mission, learning valuable life skills as well as academics while having the time of their lives! The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation is currently running a major campaign to raise funding for final development and start-up costs of the National Flight Academy. Give today, and help us inspire and educate America's youth.
